About future map skins

Hello everyone, it’s Chewbacca.

I just wanted to give you some news about future projects of maps for League Of Legends.

First, about the “Back to the Past” project (including the original Winter and Harrowing Rift of Riot), i will add another map to this project : The original Summoner’s Rift (in Summer). This map will indeed replace the actual “Vintage Summoner’s Rift” to a second version.

For these maps, i have actually some problems, especially for the Harrowing Rift. First, for re-create this map, i had to modify an essential LoL file about the map (file about 30~40 Mb). This file contains all the information about maps (disposition of objects, textures, and objects models). After the modification, i was so happy because i could finally play in the famous Harrowing map, but, I remember that bushes have changed for the Preseason and also for the future Season 4, and that was the problem ! Because, by using the modified essential file for this map, bushes are the old one in-game : wrong disposition, wrong vision of your champion… So, i have deleted bushes of this file and re-integrated actual bushes (season 4), but, it’s not as easy because, now, i have another problem, the brush brightness : very very dark. The top lane are affected by this problem and it’s a black lane now …

So, if you have understand, i have to fix the brightness of actual bushes, but i don’t know how !

I don’t want to make available an unusable map even if all of the map features are okay (Urf Tomb, pumpkins, bats, purple and blue lights, …)

Actually, Yurixy and LGG are like me, they don’t know what do for these bushes. I will also ask a question there, maybe that someone who know the coding of characters in LoL could help me.

The actual problem is the sun ! The harrowing map are affected by the sun.ini who modify the brightness of the map. But, season 4 bushes are created for a bright map (the original Summoner’s Rift) and, if we modify the sun of the map, bushes will be darker if the sun is darker ! But, we haven’t any other solutions, we have to set a dark sun to have a good map. So, my question, and what i looking for, is to modify a potential character property who says : “Affected or not by the sun of the map”, but i don’t find it :(. If someone knows or have found this property, please, give me information in comments, i will make sure to thank you and to add your name in the future article.

About other maps, first, i hope that you like the “Magic Rift” (i still have some things to improve like bushes, definition of floor textures).

And, i have another project in my head, a green summoner’s rift, i don’t know actually how it will be, i’ll post some screenshots when i will have good results …

    • Haha ! It would be too simple !! Any textures i will use for brush will haven’t any effect ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I have to find another parameter about the brightness (but i don’t know where …)

  1. do you have problem with all the maps or just the harrowing map? i would like to see a picture of the harrowing map brush to see how it really is. also, there used to be a terrain blocking the ramps leading into the river near Dragon from the jungle for blue team and leading into the river near Baron Nashor’s pit for purple team and they removed that terrain in nami patch so isnt that terrain still in the old maps or have you managed to remove it?

      • that is indeed very dark. i guess you could release it anyways, you will get used to it. and about the wall, i dont think its a problem either. but the brushes in the winter and summer map should be fine since the brightness isnt changed right?

Hi, Chewbacca,. i dont rly know how solved your problem with your bushs in original winter map(Back to the past project) yet,.. just can u share your current version of your work on “back to the past” winter map project? i want analyse this problem, i need view it on my own eyes(configurate files etc.) i rly want help u, i can analysed by method one by one setting, its rly slowly, but works. Sry for my bad eng.

    • Hello Narisilion. About the Winter map, i haven’t fixed brush because it was okay! The only one problem is a brightness, and you know that in the Winter map, the brightness is unchanged whereas in the Harrowing Map who have a low brightness. I’ll make available the “Back to the past” project in next days (i haven’t actually the time to).       • Ok, but i dont know if i understood u right,. i just wait for your release of “back to the past” project and will check it, then i will check what is wrong with brightness, if u cant fixed it. ๐Ÿ™‚ i cant imaged it, if i dont see current environment of this project. i will just w8. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Hello. I have asked you to send your e-mail or your skype simply because if you want to help me, i think the best solution is to talk often ! Because i have tested a lot of things to fix brushes, and i don’t want that you test the same things that me, it would be a waste of time. So, i can explain you easily by Skype what i have tested, and you, you can tell me if you have good results ๐Ÿ™‚ But all these things before the ‘Back to the Past’ release (because i want to make available a perfect map without any brush problem if possible :D)

  3. i know you have your current issues and are busy with fixing them but i have a custom map idea that id like to share and hear feedback from. My brother came up with this idea a while back once he heard about your custom maps and wondered if you could make a death themed map. The map changes to a greyish color when you die in league as we all know and I was wondering if you could make it so that it keeps that color throughout the whole game (the champions/minions/monsters will be the only yhing that has color on the map so you can tell when your dead from alive). I think it would look pretty good but id like to hear what you think about it and if its even possible.

    • Hello. It’s a nice suggestion, but i don’t know if it’s possible because i haven’t actually finded any dead paramaters file. Maybe, i will discover that in the future, i don’t know. But thanks anyway for your suggestion!

  4. I think the next project should be an hd version of the current summoners rift, like the current summoners rift with really high quality graphics. I know a lot of people who want this and I think it would be a huge success, just my opinion.

    • Mhh, i don’t understand your idea. Why re-create the Very High Settings Summoner’s Rift if it exists?? If people want to play in the HD SR, they can activate the Very High Settings haha.

  6. Maybe you can take brush from another map, like area 63, if the color is not right, change it.
    I don’t know if this is possible since i have never mad map mods, just suggesting ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Mh, the problem is that even if we change the brush texture (as a totally white brush for example), the brush in game will be black because of the sun parameter of the Harrowing Map. It will not work. But thank you anyway !
